Half way through?!

It's now week 6 of the term and I believe there are only 11 weeks. So I am now halfway through the term. I also realized I am very bad with keeping up with things. Especially this blog but the other things is nothing major or epicly awesome has happen. Its just the same old same old and it's not boring per say but just not interesting read for everyone. Honestly though I'm not a blogger but I thought it would be interesting to write one but I just don't feel like sitting a writing I just feel like going out and doing fun things but now I'll write some of the things I've been up to. My classes are going well so far. I've learned a few new things that I haven't learned yet. They do alot of outside reading here more than I'm use to so I'm falling a little bit behind in that area but not by much. There all interesting but I think my favorite is Understanding landscape with my least favorite being mineralogy. Dynamic Biosphere and Environment and Development are tied for second place. They all have so much writing to do for them to. I have 6 essays to write, 2 lab reports, and have to draw one map. One lab report is done so that's good. Now I just have to find the motivation to sit down and write them all. The nice thing is most of them are either due on the 6th of December or the 13th so I still have some time.

I've been doing more things then just classes I've done some of the culture stuff. :) I've been out with my house I live in a few time. I've joined a few organisations. I've joined the sci-fi club here which is quite fun they watch Doctor Who (the old series), Buffy and some new movies every week. Also joining the Sabres the gaming society here which is quite fun. Play a new board game every week. Also meet some awesome people in these organisations. Also the lgbtq is  nice here to they have tea on Wednesdays so I get to meet new people there to. Also went out on Halloween which was fun.

Lets see also done some exploring around the country to. Last week went off to Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and Bath with a friend which was fun. Took many pictures. Also am going to Wales this Sunday coming up to see John Barrowman and then to visit all the Torchwood sites. Then later on in November I'm off to Edinburgh to check out the sites.

Other than that I'm doing good. Just so much to do and so much to see before I leave.

First Week of Term

Well the first week of term is over. It went well only had one class that entire week and that was on Friday. The first week of term is mostly freshers week which is orientation for all the new students so they can get registered for classes, learn there way around and have many fun things planned. Found some organisations to join this passed week. I'm a member of the sci-fi club :), sabers which is gaming and such and the lgbtq association here. Also during the week alot of parties where being held. Every single night something was being held at the bar on campus and the club. So I went to the bar on campus a few times with some friends. Went and did karaoke with some friends that was fun. Went to the pub a couple of times which is always fun. Second week of term starts tomorrow and so do my classes. First week of full classes coming up, hopefully all the classes will go well.

In Leicester

I arrived in Leicester on the 27th and the city is pretty nice. I'm living in the student village here its called Oadby village. When I first got here they put me in this temporary housing until my term accommodation was ready. The temporary room felt like one of those little jail cells it was small and tiny and had no a/c. The first night here I got a sore throat and a little bit of a cold. My first week here has been nice mostly just learning the layout of the campus, which is very small. Its about the size of just the northside of a&m campus and north gate combined about. The city is nice giant shopping center I'll probably be there during my free time window shopping or buying something to mail home. Also just getting information on how to register for my classes and registration for me starts tomorrow and then classes start next week. This week coming up is freshers week which is like orientation week but it more like party week. Theres a party every night to go to and so much fun and crazy things to do. Its pretty cool all the dorms in Oadby village have a bar area and they all have something planned for this week and even the bar and club on campus have things planned to. Yep there's a bar and club on campus which is pretty cool. Its been crazy I've been out to the pub and bar here every night since I got here to England its been crazy but alot of fun. I've met so many interesting people and so many people from different countries its awesome! Yesterday I moved into my term accommodation and its amazing its huge and I have a fireplace in my room. :)

Recap of the london tour.

So I realize I haven't been posting alot in this blog but I didnt really have any stable internet that I was using tell now. I'm now going to do a couple post in a row to cover what has been happening lately. I'm going to do a recap of the London Tour all the main highlights and good stuff like that and then cover some of the area of me being in Leicester for the past few days.
Now I begin with the tour:

The day I land in London is the day the tour begins which was the 20th of Sept. I get picked up at the airport by the school it was a nice airport got a little lost in it but the place is huge so who can blame me for getting a little lost. Since I landed in terminal 4 and had to take the heathrow express to terminal 3. Once they picked all the students up they drove us into central London and the tour guide pointed out some intersting things. After dropping off the luggage at the one hotel and putting my and a few others luggage in a van to be taken to the second hotel we headed to the London eye. The eye was cool. We got hop in one of the pods and ride up to the top. The view at the top was amazing, got some good pics from up.
That was about it for day one mostly after the eye went back to the hotel and chilled for a bit. Did ride the tube for a bit on my first day there that was a fun experience.
Day 2:

Woke up early, had a nice breakfast. Then we rode the tube and headed towards the Tower of London. Pretty cool place didn't see any ghost though but I did see the crown jewels shiny, big, pretty gems on the crowns and stuff. Couldn't take any pictures in the vault so I don't have any pictures of the jewels. But heres a pic of the tower of london.
Ignore the random people in the picture. There's always going to be someone walking by in most of my pics it was hard to get a clean shot with alot people about.
The tour also took us on a boat cruise after the visit to the tower that was nice. The cruise took us to are next to Westminster Abbey the abbey was pretty awesome. Couldn't take any pictures inside the Abbey but I took some nice ones of the outside of it.

After the abbey the tour took us to a welcome dinner at a nearby pub. Had the bangers and mash for dinner it was pretty good. After that we had free time but I pretty much went back to the area where are hotel was and hanged out with the other people from that hotel in a pub that was by the hotel.

Day 3
Went to the British Museum it was amazing so much to see but we where only there for less than 2 hours. So sometime during the term I'm going to go back and visit the rest of it for I barely saw a fraction of what they had there. then after the museum we saw the Houses of Parliament and learned a little bit of how the government here is run. Then after Parliament we had free time so a group of us got together and headed of to King Cross to find Platform 9 3/4. :) and we found it. Then later that evening we saw Wicked which was awesome I loved it!!!

Day 4

I spent the day out at Hampton Court and seeing the gardens there. Then later that evening we went out on the Jack the Ripper Walk which was intersting.

Day 5

We got to do the Shakespeare's Walk and take a tour through the Globe. Then after that we went to St. Paul's Cathedral and walked around the inside for a bit then we climbed to the very top of the dome. The view was amazing the climb up though was an intense cardio exercise though. It was well over 500 steps probably. Then after all that me and another group did another harry potter thing. We walked across the Millennium Bridge which is seen in the beginning of the 6th harry potter movie. Then went over to the Tate Modern and look at some Modern art some of it was actually pretty neat to look and mostly look at the photography shots many where beautiful but some of the sculptures where different.

Day 6
Day 6 was a Sunday and it was free time for us to do what ever we wanted. Me and a group went to Buckingham palace since it is only open a few months out of the year and we walked through there so the wedding dress from the royal wedding, a couple of the main state rooms, and the gardens around the palace. We went to Trafalgar square and climbed up the lions that are there, it was fun trying to figure out how to get up them. then we went to Leicester square and looked for Diagon alley and found it! :)

Day 7
We left London and headed to Oxford and tour around the city for a few hours and the countryside was beautiful to see. Of course while we were at Oxford and toured around for a bit we found the great hall that inspired the one in the harry potter movie and the staircase from the first movie that they walk up before they get sorted. Then later that night I saw the Royal Shakespeare Company performing that was fun to watch. Then did the Merchant of Venice I was kinda rusty with my Shakespeare so it took me a minute sometimes to follow the story line but I followed it.

Day 8
We walked around Stratford, saw where Shakespeare was born and buried. Then after that we went to Warwick Castle and walked around for a bit and then headed of to Leicester.

That's the end of the London tour I posted more pics on facebook if you want to look but this is the background and explanation from where all the pics came from.

Sore Feet.

Its Saturday night here. Did quite a bit today mostly alot of walking and exploring a bit. My feet are so sore from the past few days and there still much left to do so even more foot pain is in the future. Well today the tour guide took us to see the Shakespeare Globe Theatre which was pretty awesome. Got to see where the old one once stood and where they built the new. Actually got to sit in the threatre and look around but I didnt get to see a play there though. Maybe another time. Then after that actually got to go to a market place an look around, buy tons of fruits and quite a bit of awesome baked goods. :) It was fun just to people watch there. Also did another very nerdy harry potter thing today I walked across the Millennium bridge the one that you see in the beginning of the 6th film. Then after that took a tour of St. Paul's cathedral it was pretty and beautiful but a little to flashy for me. I'm just glad I didn't light up like a roman candle when I walked in. But I did trek to the top of the dome and look out of the London skyline and the view was beautiful. Then took a nice little trip to the modern art museum which was nice like some of it but lot just wasn't my taste. Alot of pictures I'll post later I just haven't downloaded them into the computer yet and still don't have a stable wifi connection yet. So probably in a week or so I'll post pics. :)

Friday, September 23, 2011

Its now Friday afternoon here. So I've been in London for about 3 days. It has been very fun and interesting so far. This tour I'm doing has me going everywhere and anywhere but I can tell you somethings don't change about me for right now I'm sitting in a nice pizza place feeding off there wifi and eating pizza. :)  Went to the British Museum which was amazing but we weren't there to long so I must go back sometime when I get some free time. For we only had alittle less than 2 hours there nowhere near enough time to see anything. But the Rosetta Stone was awesome and many of the Greek artifacts where awesome. Then we got to go through the Houses of Parliament which was interesting it was nice to see the inside of a different countries government and learn alittle bit more about its inner workings. The Tower of London was good didn't see any ghost or anything. Westminster Abbey was amazing love the Gothic architecture sad I couldn't take any pictures inside the abbey. But of course no trip to London would be complete unless you take a trip to Platforms 9 3/4 and take a picture at it. Which I did. I'll have to post the picture later for I don't have the cord for my camera at the moment to upload. One of my favorites I've done so far besides the platform is seeing Wicked yesterday. :) Today so far has been alright went out to Hampton court Palace and so the famous gardens out there and all the rooms on the inside. Later tonight I get to go on the Jack the Ripper Walk so that should be fun.

Day one in London.

Well I arrived in London this morning the flight was alright it was impossible to fall asleep. So I'm still running on the energy from the night before. The tour guide that we have taking us around London is pretty cool. I've met alot of interesting people so far. Rode on the London eye the view was amazing and took a tour through Central London the bus it was interesting, traffic is a killer. Took some awesome pictures today I'll post them later I'm having a terrible time trying to find a good internet connection. Other than that things are going pretty good. More stuff to happen later on this week.
